GERMANY'S AIM: Vel QUT ViHY

“Which French Refuse To Give Today.

By PAUL GHALI Gopyright, 1¢ 4 by The Indianapolis Times

Chicago Daily News, VICHY, Feh. 28.—If

Henri Petain’s Government thought it might smooth relations with the Germans by forming a new Government ready to collaborate, it must feel thoroughly disappointed today. For both the Germans in Paris and the Pals press show in- __ difference, if not? distinct hostility, ~ to these Vichy efforts. Of course, the Germans have other fish to fry at the moment and their attitude expressed itself today only by-unimportant acts. For example, it has just been re- . vealed that they refused. permission to cross the demarcation line between occupied and unoccupied . France to several newly appointed national councilors, summoned to Lyon by Marshal Petain on Feb. 24 for a private meeting. The meting has now been postponed sine die. And the demarcation line, practical- _ ly closed since Dec. 13 (when Laval was kicked out), shows no signs of changing. The German radio still is silent on the new French Government but criticisms of Vichy have not ceased. The Stuttgart radio Wednesday went on the air with a violent attack against author Andre Maurois (director of the French ministry of information during the month preceding France's collapse and at present professor of French Literature at Harvard). It ended by calling the national revolution ‘‘phantasmal.” Germany's: friends in Paris, following the example of Andre Suarez in Aujourd’hui, called the new French Government “a set of technicians gone astray.” German aims against Vichy are getting clearer. By rendering Vichy’s task concerning supply administration more difficult, Germany is wearing out an increasing number of French politicians. If the new Vice Premier, Admiral Jean Darlan, does not succeed, he will be followed by others. When things have reached a still worse pass and Vichy is faced with social troubles, Germany may have an opportunity to get from a worn-out Vichy what Vichy today refuses.

Riverview Ave. Dayton, Ohio, well-known contractor and member of the Modern Woodmen, fs among the latest to give the medicine his strong public endorsement: “I felt so weak, run down, and nervous I could hardly even sleep,” declared Mr. Brown. “I would roll and toss until far into the night before I would drop off to sleep, and then my rest. did not seem to do me much good. Everything I ate seemed to sour in my stomach, and gassy bloating was so bad sometimes I felt like I would pass out. I could hardly get a bowel ~ movement. without taking harsh purgatives, and toxic poisoning -caused spots before my eyes and such dizzy weak spells-I was often afraid I would fall over.

Between 3000 and 5000 visitors are expected to see this year’s production.

my case after everything else I tried had failed, and brought me such prompt relief I was surprised. Now I relish my food, I sleep sound all night, and I feel better and stronger than I have in years. I am going to take another bottle or two of Retonga and I would not be without a bottle about the house. I feel duty bound to tell others who suffer as I did what Retonga did for me.” Thousands from the Great Lakes to the Gulf are praising Retonga. Accept no substitute.
