The Players' Performances Saturday

BECAUSE OF a substitution .in.the cast for The Players’ performances Saturday night at the Civic Theater, the George Fotheringham household will take on a thoroughly theatrical tone before the week-end. Mrs. Fotheringham has been chosen by the preduction committee to complete the line-up for “Boy Meets Family,” while Mr. Fotheringham has been scheduled for several weeks to appear in the comedy by Mrs. Thomas Harvey Cox, “Hellas A-Poppin.”

Mrs. Charles Weiss, another “Boy Meets Family” cast member, will appear in the play after acting as hostess at a dinner party to be given by her and Mr. Weiss at their home. Among their guests will be Mr. and Mrs. Cox and Mr. and Mrs. Louis Haerle. Another party before the performances will be a dinner at the

LEWIS CARROLL'S fictional offspring will materialize Saturday evening, March -1, as decorations at the Indianapolis Day Nursery Auxiliary’s “Alice” in Wonderland” ball at the Woodstock Club. Mrs. E. Hardy Adriance is in charge of the proceedings, assisted by the Misses Betty Tharp, Patricia Eaglesfield, Mary Jane and Betty Hamerstadt. . : Alice herself will be.a large cardboard cut-out at’ one of the doors of the ballroom. At other doors the Red Chess Queen, the Knave of Hearts and the famous rabbit who was the cause of it all will form a secondary welcoming committee. Tweedle-Dee, Tweedle-Dum and Humpty-Dumpty will look down on the guests from their positions over the mantel in the reception room. And the doorman will be the March-Hare—slightly mad, you know. Catholic Group Names Heads

Grogan, director of the Catholic Information Bureau, said yesterday. He spoke at the quarterly meeting of the Indianapolis District, Indianapolis Diocesan Council, National Council of Catholic Women, at the Catholic Community Center. “It is not a lack of good reading that confronts the reading public,” Pr. Grogan- said. ‘Many books are published but because they are not labeled “best sellers” or selected by the Book of the Month Club they are destined for obscurity.” He pointed out that the Cathlic Church is vitally interested in the reading of its members and condemns certain books, ‘because they the harmful to the faith and her members, and recommends the reading of others.” The Rev. Mrs. Brown’ ; i Library to Go To Butler

President D. 8. Robinson and Prof. Glenn R. Maynard, librarian, have announced that the complete library of the late Mrs. Demarchus C. Brown, lecturer and traveler, will be presented to the Butler University Library. Works on art, biographies, history, travel, literary criticism and fiction are contained in the 800 volumes comprising the library. Prof. Maynard has announced that a special book plate honoring Mrs. Brown and inscribed with her name will be made for the books. The collection is one of the largest and best added to the university library in recent years, he said. Mr. Brown was a professor of Greek at Butler for 25 years and Mrs. Brown taught at the local institution as a member of the French faculty from 1919 until 1923. In recent years she lectured at the university and was starting the second half of her fifth series when she died this winter. Prof, Maynard has also announced that several recordings of Mrs. Brown's outstanding lectures given at the university’ and made by the speech department are being preserved. The lecturés and books will be available for the use of all stu-

dents.
