HAVANA, Feb. 7 (U. P.).—A national military conscription law may be pushed through at the present extraordinary session of Congress, it was reported in parliamentary circles today. Liberal members of the House of Representatives were understood to have agreed to petition the House for a debate on a conscription law which, though approved in principle last. fall, never was enacted. In asking the debate, the liberals urged that the conscription law be fitted in with other legislation, now under consideration, to protect the democratic regime and strengthen national defense.
|ALUMINUM CO. BUYS MAGNESIUM CONTROL
NEW YORK, Feb. 7 (U. P.).—The Aluminum Co. of America, one of the 15 companies and individuals accused by the Federal Government of creating a national defense bottleneck = with ' an international ‘magnesium trust, announced today that it had obtained full control of the American Magnesium Corp. and would begin immediately to expand the subsidiary’s operation to aid the defense program.’ ‘This expansion is expected to cost several millions of dollars. A new plant will be built at Buffalo and plants in Cleveland, Los ‘Angeles and New ‘Kensington, Pa., will be augmented, The Aluminum company. bought the half interest owned by the General Aniline and Film Corp. of New York.
