Only thing wrong with that anecdote| is that Mr. Gordon wasn’t exactly heartbroken at being turned down. A better turn-about story involves Lew Sherrill, a talent agent, member of a large group much maligned as bloodsucking 10 per centers. Well, one of this agent’s clients fell desperately ill the other day and needed a transfusion. Mr.’ Sherrill went to the hospital and gave 10 per cent of his blood.

Filmland to Aid Greek War Drive
HOLLYWOOD, Feb. 6 (U. P).—
The film industry’s permanent char-
ity. committee has launched its
{fifth drive for war relief funds—
this time for Greece: - More than 100 top ranking stars

present “America Calling” on the stage of Grauman's Chinese Theas ter on Saturday, and another 2000 members of the movie colony will pay $10 a seat to watch them. The program, featuring Clark Gable, Soarole Lombard, Robert Taylor, Barbara Stanwyck, Tyrone Power and Ronald Colman, among others; in a modern version of “The Mikado,” will be broadcast to the United States, England and Greece. “Gone With the Wind,” which set a -five-weeks .record during its road-show engagement at Loew's a year ago, tomorrow will go into its second week at the same theater at reduced prices. A good many patrons who waited to see the Vivien LeighClark Gable starrer at popular tariff, plus a sizable number of repeat “customers, has ‘swelled the crowds to sizes reminiscent of last year’s run. The picture is being presented "on a continuous-showing basis, with three performance of the extra-long film taking up the theater's full day.
