U. S. to Charge 12 Firms With Conspiracy to Control Business.

‘WASHINGTON, Jan. 27 (U. P.).— The Justice Department said it would file a civil suit today in the U. 8. District Court at Trenton, N. J., charging 12 corporations with a conspiracy to monopolize the incandescent electric lamp industry. The suit will allege that the defendants sought to fix noncompetitive prices, restrict production artificially, and control the business of independent manufacturers in violation of anti-trust laws.

SEAMAN ON SHORE. T0 BE ‘TOUGHENED'

WASHINGTON, Jan. 27 (U, P.) — The Navy wants more military smartness and greater physical fit ness for its personnel who are assigned to stations ashore.

of the Bureau of Navigation has issued a general order to all shore stations, directing that a 15-minute calisthenic program be followed daily for five days each week. That's to increase the Navy's physical fitness. To further the “military smartness” at shore stations, Admiral Nimitz . prescribed a period of at least one hour each week for close order military drill.
