Civic Banquet to Feature 3-Day Convention of National Group.

The annual mid-year meeting of |}
the National Accident and Health JInsurance Association will open Tuesday at the Claypool Hbdtel and continue through Thursday. One of the highlights will be a civic banquet at 6:30 p. m. Wednes~ - day in conjunction with the Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce. Govenor Henry PF. -Schricker has been invited to speak.
Civic to Present Play
A play will be given by a Civic Theater cast and the Stephen Foster Singers will offer selections. J. M. Drake, Empire Life and Accident president, will preside. The convention will open at 2 'p. m. Tuesday with a meeting of the executive committee. It includes E. H. Ferguson, Great Northern Life, president; Clyde E. Dalrymple, Preferred Accident, first vice president; George L. Dyer Jr., “Columbian National Life, second vice president; Homer Bisch, National Casualty, third vice president: C. A. Sholl, Globe Casualty, secretary, and E. C. Budlong, executive secretary-treasurer, All are out-of-state men. Organizations Assist Co-operating with the association in the meetings are the Chamber of Commerce, the Indianapolis Association of Life Underwriters, the Indiana Association of Insurance Agents and the Indianapolis Life Managers’ Association. The local branch of the association is the Indianapolis Accident and Health Club, with C. Norman "Green, vice president of the Hoosier Casualty Co.; as president.
THREE ARE NAMED AS CONTEST JUDGES
Three persons today were named by Carl G. Winter, Lambda Chi Alpha State Alumni Association president, as judges in the annual ‘song contest to be held at the fraternity’s state dance tomorrow ‘night at the Columbia Club. They are Stanley Norris, Jordan Conservatory of Music: registrar; Mrs. Norris, and Ray B. Hall, Bread Ripple High School music director. The Lowell McPherson trophy will ‘be awarded to one of the fraternity’s chapters in eight state schools. James Carrier of Indiana University is in charge of the song contest. Frank Seidensticker Jr. heads the dance committee.
‘FIREBUG BURGLAR’ NABBED AT DETROIT
DETROIT, Jan. 24 (U. P.).— Thomas Williams, 46-year-old “fire- " bug burglar” of Columbus, O., arrested yesterday, ,has admitted breaking into 150 houses here since last May. Williams, a parolee from Ohio State Penitentiary, where he served 12% years, said he earned the title because he set fire to houses ‘he burglarized to “cover up.” “I didn’t go straight because they didn’t give me a break at Columbus,” he said.

The Indiana University School of Dentistry, a part of the I. U. JMedical Center here, has been admitted to the [top ranking grolp of American dental schools. The school here has been adyised of its registration by fhe New York Education Department, the recognized rating body. Nineteen other dental {schools in the ¢ountry hold similar} ratings. The J. 2000 Six. Year-Old Will Enroll as Pupils Next Week.

Indianapolis school children were taking secmester-end examinations this week, as 2000 six-year-oids prepared to enter school for the first time next week and 1750 other youngsters looked forward to becoming high school freshmen. The first semester will close in the public high schools Monday and in the public grade schools on Wednesday noon. New grammar school pupils will report for the second semester at 8:30 o'clock Thursday morning. High school freshmen will enrcll at 1:30 p. m. Thursday. The first semester for parochial grade school: will close next Friday and the second seraester will begin the following Monday. Parochial high schools begs the second semester last Monday. There will be only two breaks for vacations in the second semester. Spring vacation will last from April 4 to April 14. The second holiday will be Memorial Day, May 30. The second semester will close June 11..

Practice for Fanfare
Cathedral High School Band members have been spending three afternoons a week at the school, practicing for “The | Fanfare of 1941,” an annual production, which will be given on the evenings of Feb. 16 and 17. The program will be composed of semi-classical and popular tunes. As soon as the continuity of the program is worked out, members of the Cathedral Art Department will design and paint a colorful backdrop for the affair.
