Dorothy Claire, bor born in La Porte, Ind. 23 years ago, has replaced Marion Hutton as the girl singing star - with Glenn Miller and his orchestra, heard on the Columbia network Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, WEFBM, at 9 p. m. Miss Claire, who is blond and pretty, is one of three sisters currently singing with big name bands. She won an amateur singing contest when she was 6. At 16 she teamed up with her sister, Debby, on a semi - weekly radio program originating in South Bend. Later she toured the South , and Southwest as vocalist with Joaquin Gill’s band.
