Here Is

a Holiday Buffet Supper

With Directions for Its Preparation

THE HOLIDAYS are here bringing Christmas, New Years and_all

the days between with their varied festivitie:. Some time during that|

~ Week you'll want to invite a real house-full of merry guests to share your holiday spirit. Why not make it a Buffet Supper—that’ easiest of all meals to plan, prepare and serve, whether you have a big house or a

little one; a maid or no one but yourself to

i. The plans which~ follow were gli worked out carefully in Armour ind Co, Test Kitchen and they'll bring sighs of satisfaction to all. For a large group—the whole menu may be used; for a smaller guest list choose one cocktail, 2 meats, 1 salad and 1 dessert. : . THE TABLE—Set up a long table In your dining room with the hot dishes and plates at one end, coffee at the other, and salads, rolls and télishes between. Use your snowst linen, most glistening silver, and loveliest china. - TABLE DECORATIONS—For easy holiday decorations we suggest a large ® glass bowl of vari-colored Christmas tree balls surrounded by crisp tufts of pine or fir boughs. Just a flat mirror topped with a mound of long needled pine boughs stuck here and there with raw cranBerries is effective.: This may have _ long red tapers added for an evening parfy. Little trees or clusters of red bells also are gay. SERVICE—Arrange the table so that a guest, walking around the table can, in turn, pick up the napkin and silver, then the plate, serve himself to hot dishes, then salads and breads. The coffee should be

served last by a friend who assists. |

Serving of cocktails and appetizers may be done in the living

3oom. Clear the buffet and reset

“it with dessert plates, forks and ~ dessert before the final course is served.

Allow the paste to remain on the spot a minute, then wash off. \

Clean Hair Brushes

YOUR HAIR is no cleanet than your hairbrush, so it’s a good |idea to wash your brush each time you shampoo your hair. Care-

ful washing should not harm a good brush. Use a mild soap thoroughly dissolved in tepid water and, if you like, add a few drops of ammonia. Dip the bristles in the suds until clean and then rinse thoroughly in clear lukewarm water, shake off the excess and hang up to dry. Do not dry near heat and never stand brushes on the bristles o backs to dry. .

To Clean Radiators

USE A VACUUM cleaner attachment to draw out loose dust that gathers between the radiator coils. For stubborn dirt, use a long handled, slender, flexible brush that will reach into all the crevices. Put a damp cloth over the top of the radiator while brushing to keep dust from flying into the room.

Thread Count Insures Quality

WHEN BUYING sheets look for the thread count on the label. A high thread count indicates a fine muslin. The thread count is measured by counting the number of threads in the warp and woof per square inch. A total thread count of from 132 to 152 per square .inch is a good, durable quality.

To Clean Piano Keys

TO CLEAN ivory piario keys, use a clean soft cloth moistened with a little alcohol.

Individual Meat Loaves

, IF YOU NEED to bake your meatloaf very quickly, you can bake individual ones in muffin tins in a very short time. F :

Uncharred Roasts

wrap the ends of the ribs with bacon or cover with a cube of fat to prevent the bone burning. Stuff with dressing before roasting or serve with center filled with hot, fresh vegetables.

Dry-Clean Lined Curtains

EVEN IF the fabrics used in lined draperies are labeled tubfast, it is a safe rule always to dry-clean. Unless the lining and the curtain itself are-of the same material, the shrinkage of each in wet-washing may ‘be entirely different. In that case washing with water results in an uneven, awkward hanging.

Keep Kitty Happy Every self-respecting cat likes to keep her claws in the finest condition—even the apartment cat, that seldom gets a chance to scratch a tree. Give her a sturdy, short post, with the bark left on, mounted upright on a firm base, and you’ll save money on slipcovers and upholstery. An old throw rug or piece of discarded carpet which she will soon discover is her very own will keep
