policy. Dictatorship Admitted

i As drawn, the policy authorizes the A. F. of L. Executive Council % to “apply all of its influence to secure such action as will correct the situation.” But it gives the council % no outright powers to compel such |} action. It is aimed at union officers and ¥ members “who have been found guilty of betraying the trust re- 5 posed in them, or of having used their official position for personal ¥ and illegal gain, who have been or may be convicted of such acts which cast discredit upon the labor movement. McLane has not been “convicted.” But he admitted tolerating the dictatorship of the gangsters in his union until they cut off his $10,000 income. When the publicity got too hot for the “Syndicate,” they voluntarily withdrew. McLane % tried to call off the injunction suit but failed. He did, however, scuttle the criminal case against the men 5 he swore had threatened his life. The union election, ordered by the court, is scheduled for next I 3 rs0f5 9 and atehing month. \ \ > v - plete set, 9c.
