JANE JORDAN

EAR JANE.JORDAN=I haye a problem to which T have given ® Te Ba thought and still can’t decide for myself. I_found out after 15 years of married life that I have a cheat, a liar-end a deceitful pan for a husband. We have a little business together and he had an affair with one of the girls who work for us. 1 yas painfully hurt when I found out, it took something tha nag felt for him from me. Although she.is not here now.the same al g is going on again with another girl and I have found. out again. i I have a nice home, money enough to livé on and a lovely dsughter of 15 who is respected by all. Should I swallow my pride or should I blow up, break up my home and cause my daughter a Jo} of grief? It is terribly hard for me to face day in and day out. ome times IT think I can’t Stage Lik He acts Tee he loves me, but he wan and other women . he Ds en places while I work. I have friends who tell me they see him with her in our car. I am about ready to walk out of his life forever. ft you will advise me I will surely appre- ~ giate it. : BLUE EYES.

‘2 nn = ss 8 = Answer—To walk on is to admit defeat. A middle-aged woman

reaks up her home is seldom any happier divorced than she ho i with the man who deceived her. To go on alone after years of shar ; often ‘more difficult than to put up with deception, Besides, the es are that your husband simply is going through a phase, as have many other men before him, and when it is over you ‘may be glad that you steadied yourself and him by standing pat. As you have remarked, you have your daughter to consider. The * geparation of her paren would be a tremendous blow to her. She would be severely émbarrassed by a situation which is not of her making. To be disap ted and disillusioned by her father af the age' when it is most im nt for her to think well of men vould do her a serious damage. You and your husband should settle your difficulties between yourselves without involving her. You need not be a martyr. Blow up if you feel like it, but why walk out without putting up a fight to preserve a relationship which has been satisfactory for 15 years? You have a just grievance and . a right to express your | wrath. However, there is such a thing as tempering justice with mercy. You can fry to understand the man’s problem which is not peculiar to him. He isn’t the only man to take alarm at the onset of middle age and make a final effort to recapture a few of the thrills of vanishing youth. . A little patience on your part may see h. through: his second adolescence. A Remember that the friends who tell you they saw him with another woman aren’t really friends.’ When they upset you under the guise of kindness they secretly know how they hurt you. Such people remind me of the punisk parents who falsely asserts, “This hurts me worse than it hurts you.” “You could handle your problem auch wisely without an audience. . To be sure it hurts to know that “your husband is unfaithful, but it hurts worse to know. that other : ople are aware of his behavior, too. Send the tale-bearers away with their curiosity ungratified. JANE JORDAN.
