Navy have been calling to active _ duty master pilot captains runnihg daily schedules on the air lines. . There’s no method for making a master air-line captain pilot overnight. The safety records of our air-line system are traceable to the marvelous care and good judgment _exercised by the brains at the top of our air-line management. They knew only too well what a competently trained master pilot means to air transportation. Each line maintains its own medical corps, its own schools; and its own check and recheck methods for holding piloting skill and reliability to religiously high standards. The question now naturally arises as to why the Army and Navy could not have taken the same far‘sighted precautions against pilot

Army No Place For Carnera

ROME, Dec. 6 (U. P.).—Primo Carnera said that he has been turned ‘down for active service in the Italian army despite his efforts to join the parachute corps. He said authorities wouldn't let him be a parachutist becausehe weighed 292 pounds and would require a special parachute. He. was rejected for regular Army duty because of a recent stomach operation.
