P.)—When Stanley Mendenhall, Edwardsville newspaper man, went up in a rented monoplane to take his private pilot's license test he didn’t think ‘he would be =bothered by mice, he said today. But he was; and as a result the plane had to be brought down in a crash landing, pancaking into a wheat field eight miles north of St. Charles, Mo. Neither he nor his companion, Civil Aeronautics Inspector Lynn Probst, was hurt. The mice, Mr. Mendenhall explained, gnawed into the'right wing and ate lock stitching from the top fabric! .
