Little known trade rivalries between the chains are being exposed to public view these days at a hearing before the Federal Communications Commission in Washington. Yesterday, : according to the United Press, counsel for the Mutual Broadcasting System charged that contractual relations between the two big radio networks, thé National Broadcasting Co. and the Columbia Broadcasting System, and their outlet stations allegedly violate the anti-trust laws. Argument was on findings of a special FCC committee which has investigated. alleged monopolistic _' practices in radio. Louis G. Caldwell, MBS representative, said the alleged violations had resulted from holdings by the major chains of station facilities in strategic marketihg areas. Mutual also complained against the exclusive contracts of NBC and the Columbia Broadcasting System by which outlet stations are prohibited from accepting commercial programs from any other national chain. (This apparently does aot apply to Indianapolis, for WIRE, basic NBC-Red outlet, also broadcasts programs from Mutual as well as NBC-Blue. WIRE also “feeds” some Yeskly programs to the Mutual chain
