Boys in their ‘teens, like their fathers and older brothers, want equipment and clothes to further interest in hobbies and adult games. 8 a's OR girls, silk crepe pajamas with a separate, pocketed apron that ties in the back in a bow are new, So are white suede mittens, piped with gold kidskin, for evening parties. OR youngsters of both sexes there are new parlor games that every member of the family, including parents, will enjoy. Cir=cle gammon is quicker and easier than backgammon, and because the circular board makes the game equal fun for two, three or four, it's a good investment for family fun, Hi-ro is another easy-to-learn newcomer that’s played with individual trays of numbered blocks. Treasure hunt is a best-selling, fast-moving game which any number of people, from two to 16, may play. Although the ’teen-age contingent may feel very conscious of their new sophistication, you can count on their enthusiasm for parlor sports that call for action. Folding bowling alleys, varying from six feet to two feet, are 1940 favorites. Some of these have a devise setting up the pins. A new set of ski ball folds away neatly in a suitcase. Dart boards are using card faces, big -game animals, golf courses, baseball, ducks and airplanes as the basis of marksmanship competition. Guns that shoot rubber bands and suction cap darts are used with many of these. 2 o ” FF boys with hobbies, consider the de luxe airplane building sets. Every type of plane in the United States has been used for an airplane construction kit. Boat building and model train construction kits and carpentry tools are basic hobby favorites for father and son play. 'Teen-age daughters will like electric woodburning sets or one of the new bead looms that makes charm jewelry and coasters. Electric Teakettle Now on Market
An automatic electric teakettle will be welcome in many homes. Its outstanding feature is that the connection plug is automatically ejected whenever the water boils too low for safety. The plug cannot be put back until the heating unit has cooled to a safe temperature. The kettle is fine for quickly heating baby’s milk, for use in the sickroom, on trips, and in dis-
tricts where only electricity is available.
Clean Laundry Assured
One of the assurances of absolutely clean laundry is using the right amount of soap. Too little just won't take out the dirt; too much is extravagant. For washing machine use, start with a cupful of soap for each load. Agitate until the soap is dissolved and approximately three inches of suds appear on the top, or until the water has a thick, soapy feel, adding more soap if necessary. If the clothes are not too soiled, the same wash water may be used for two or three loads, but in this case add more soap after each load so that the-suds remain active. Most washing machines accommodate from six to eight pounds of dry clothes per load. Rinse thoroughly
