Will Enable Some Inmates To Support Self After Release, Klinger Says.
A co-operative educational and vocational program between the Indiana State Prison and Purdue University will be started this week. John H. Klinger, director of the State Division of Corrections, announced today that Prof. Mark F. Stigers of Purdue will open a foreman training class at the Michigan City, Ind., prison. . At the request of Thurman A. Gottschalk, State Welfare admin-

BILLINGS, Mont.,, Nov. 18 (U. P.).—Here’s what happened this week-end when a nonchalant cow’ strolled across a highway as a heavy truck approached: The truck, loaded with apples, struck the*cow, dropped 10 feet through a bridge and caught fire. Flames from the truck set fire to the bridge and destroyed it. Apples were scattered all over the place. . - ! Traffic was detoured several miles around the bridge. MOSCOW, Nov. 18 (U. P.).—Gen. Vladimir Grendal, 57, vice chief of the Red Army artillery board and the Soviet union’s leading artillery theorist, is dead. A former Czarist officer, Grendal joined the Bolshevists in 1917 and served with distinction during the Civil War. He held a key command in the Finnish War, organized the storming of the Mannerheim Line and led to the seizure of Vigorb.
