Perfect Season Trail Perilous For Unbeaten
Cornell and Boston College Had Better Be Good
By HARRY FERGUSON United Press Sports Editor
NEW YORK, Nov. 18 (U. P.).—They’ re in the "home| stretch now and, only seven) —the lucky 'seven—are still running in the ranks of the
unbeaten, untied football teams.
They're scattered across the country from Boston to Palo Alto, Cal, and here they are—Cornelll; Minnesota, Stanford, Boston College, Lafayette, Tennessee and the Texas Aggies.
Five of the seven go into action this week with only the Texas Aggies and Stanford resting. The road is still rocky for most of them and lone knows when an underdog is going to rise up and smite them. Ask Cornell which is still shaking over that Dartmouth thing. On Saturday [Cornell meets a tough Pennsylvahia team, boasting! the kicking, passing and all-around ability of Francis Xavier Reagan. It will be a tough afternoon and the Big Red will .need everything to slide safely past this one. Boston College catches a tartar in Auburn, a tea that, can rise to amazing heights! Lafayette plays Lehigh and doesn't look for too much trouble. Tennessee, riding along on a soft schedule, finally gets a test against Kentucky—a game that should provide a better line on| just how strong the Volunteers are this season. Last year, with a schedule almost as easy as the 1940 one, they looked invincible until they got into the Rose Bowl, dnd ran into that powerful Southern Calif ornia line. Minnesota, a |real | powerhouse, figures to beat Wisconsin rather easily, but the Badgers surprised everybody on Saturday | with that shellacking they gave Indiana. There |g could be trouble| here ‘Bierman.
Ke: Some of the major teams have K
games scheduled for this Thursday, the best ones being Denver vs. Colorado, Fordham vs. Arkansas, Missouri vs. Kansas and Utah vs, Idaho.

one and when it bounced back off Bill Mackenzie, he swung again. Another goal. In the midst of this hilarity the Barons took hold and grabbed off a couple of goals for themselves within a minute and 10 seconds. Milford made one and McKenzie the other. But Mackenzie was caught alone by Jones, and Buck proceeded to go right through him for another Indianapolis goal, breaking Mr. Mackenzie's stick in so doing. Bush got himself another with the help of McDonald, and Kilrea did likewise with the help of Keating. Fortunately the gun put an end to things before the scorekeeper ran out of figures. Mighty Minnesota Rules the Big Ten
CHICAGO, Nov. 18 (U. P.)—It's Minnesota again—Big Ten champion for the fifth time since Bernie Bierman went to work up there in 1932. All the Golden Gophers need is a victory over Wisconsin this week for a perfect season, first by any Big Ten team since the great Minnesota squad of 1935 trampled everything in sight. Scoring with the opening kickoff, Minnesota put Purdue to rout Saturdaly, 33 to 6, for ‘victory number five in Conference competition. Northwestern's defeat at Michigan, 20 to 13, gave the Gophersh an undisputed championship.
