Unless they came on very early in the evening, radio favorites are likely to be shoved into the background as the networks devote the major portion of tonight and the wee small hours to broadcasting the election results. Returns are to be broadcast by all three Indianapolis stations. And all will stay on until a definite result in local, state and national returns is indicated. On WFBM all commercial broadcasts after 8 p. m. will be cancelled. From 10 o'clock on WIRE will devote itself .to election returns exclusively. Procedure Under Draft Is Among Topics for - Discussion.

. Indiana’s conscientious objectors to war and conscription will hold a conference at the Y. W. C. A. Wednesday and Thursday. They will discuss not only their,

procedure under the draft, but international war relief, the religious basis of pacifism and such forms of “economic pacifism” as voluntary poverty and co-operatives. The problems of conscientious objeétors under conscription will be discussed by A. J. Muste, national secretary of the Fellowship of Reconciliation, international organization of war objectors. HARRISBURG, Pa. Nov. 5 (U. P.).—The Dauphin County Court upheld the Pennsylvania unemployment Compensation Act yesterday, turning down the appeal of Fred C. Perkins, York battery manufacturer who refused to contribute to the jobless insurance fund. Mr. Perkins, who went to jail in iefiance of the NRA and forced the State to file a suit for collection of $222 in unemployment compensation tax and interest, charged the law violated both the state and national constitution.

PARIS DRESSMAKERS UNDER VICHY RULE

VICHY, France, Nov, 5 (U. P.)— The Paris .dressmaking trade has been organized, along with six other branches of the clothing industry, under state control.

Lucien Lelong was named chief of the first of seven sub-groups in the clothing industry, including millinery and dressmaking. | Madame Jeanne Lanvin was also named to a consultative committee to aid Lelong, but the seven other members are technicians and none of the great houses such as Worth, Patou, Chanel or Pacquin or the foreign firms like Molyneux or Schiapparelli are represented. Other sub-groups of the clothing industry include men’s ready-to-wear, women’s ready-to-wear, shirts and lingerie, furs, certain silks and woolens for clothing and accessory industries, including corseits, buttons, neckties and umbrellas. Dressmakers will be allowed the same freedom of design and price as before the war, but will be under government con-

trol.
