The farmers of the nation “never had a beneficial programcCuntil the Democratic Party went into, power,” Lieut. Gov. Henry F. Schricker, Governor candidate, declared in-.a spech at Frankfort last night. “The farmers had been crying for

an agricultural program for many years and a move to pass needed

President Coolidge,” he said. “Later when a third attempt was made, President Hoover said he, too, would oppose the bill. “It wasn’t until the Republican

1932 and the farmers turned to the Democrats for help that the rehabilitation program was ‘adopted. You and I know that it has been the salvation of the American| farmer.’ Mr. Schricker accused Raymond E. Willis, Republican Senatorial candidate of contradicting himself on the farm program. “Mr. Willis said the program was regimentation and that the farmers were against it. In the same breath he said the program will be continued until a better one can be devised,” he said. “We believe. the accomplishments achieved under the administrations of Governors McNutt and Townsend recommend themselves to the people.”

To prevent the United States becomipg involved in the war was pro-

Charles H. Bedwell, Democratic nominee for Congress from the Seventh District, in an address at the Spencer, Ind. Court House last night. “World conditions are such today that in order to prevent the United States being involved in war, this nation should not follow a weak, vacillating or cowardly foreign policy. World conditions are such that sensible American citizens realize that the best way to prevent war is to build up our defenses so that no nation, or group of nations, will dare to attack us,” Mr. Bedwell contended. He charged that “certain Republican members of Congress,” by their vote on various defense bills, had

reaching this objective.

National defense makes it necessary that President Roosevelt remain in the White House, Clarence

Donovan, Democratic candidate for secretary of state, declared yesterday at Stewartsville, Ind. “The Republican Presidential nominee, Wendell L. Willkie, has accused the Administration’s defense program of bogging down. . . . This charge is untrue.
