Second is the meeting between undefeated, ‘twice-tied Southern" California, ° and smirchless Stanford, ° ‘Two of “the most” publicized backs in the nation’ will be -on opposing sides of the line at Ann Arbor. Michigan will set Harmon against. gan, But t issue may well be decided by the runhing and passing’ mates. of 'this great pair. I look for Michigan .to win as the result of | ently sustained offense.

them to lose to a rn California team which is improving slowly but surely.
In the intersectionat lists Cornell, Fordham, Mississippi and Detroit defend clean records against opponents who have been beaten.
He Likes Detroit
Ohio State should fight the good fight, but ‘Cornell will win again. Fordham should not have . tradi tional trouble in handling St. Mary's "of the Coast. Arkansas-has a chance against Mississippi, but Mehre’s men will raze the Razorbacks, The best match of the day seems to be De-~ troit-Villanova—again I select the undefeated team, oit, to win, In the .East undefeated Georgetown:should take N.Y. U. and undefeated Navy should take Yale without too much ‘ado., Temple is not at all unlikely to hand Penn State its first setback—but [I stick to the undefeated favorite. In ‘the Midwest we have Northwestern, Minnesota and Notre Dame facing ejection from | the unbeaten ma jor class. A Close One at [Evanston It should be c¢lose| at Evanston, but Northwestern has been winning in stride whereas Indiana had to go into high to overcome Iowa last week. Even without {De Correvont Sno Clawson 1 pick the Purple. Joga wil hound back from the Indi disappointment, but. Min--nesota's, power will, too much. Also there's the ‘matter of percentage—the Hawkeyes are overdue to lose a couple. On the current record Notre Dame should beat Tilinois. But it must be taken into account that, on the record of the past, the Illini are capable of rising to great heights at least once a season. We expect to win, of course, but we are by no means taking victory for granted. In the South Tennessee has too
