OFFERS CITY CREDIT FOR COAL PURCHASE

The City was assured today that it may purchase coal on credit when budgeted coal funds are exhausted Nov. 15 as a result of a 70-cent a ton Federal price hike. W. Boes, Indianapolis representative of the Deep Vein Coal Co., which now supplies Sanitation plant coal under contract, informed the Works Board that his firm would supply coal for the remainder of the year on credit, if necessary. City officials have estimated they will be short about $2800 on the Sanitation plant’s coal fund in the last month and a half of the year. The plant uses more coal than any other municipal department and thus $s hardest hit by the price increase. :

Earth, Meteors Miss on Date

THE EARTH AND the Draconid meteors must have missed connections. The Draconids, which have seven-year orbit, were due to swing near the path of the earth’s orbit during last night, an event which would have resulted in a meteor shower. (This happened in 1933.) You can’t be sure about meteors, though. They might have gotten here in yesterday's sunshine or arrived this morning in the dawn’s early light. - Anyway they weren't visible at either the Crooked Creek observatory of the Indiana Astronomical Society, where members had gathered for the display, or at the Goethe Link Observatory near Brooklyn, Ind.
