Lyric George Jessel has brought to Indianapolis a coterie of cinema stars who are just about perfect as stage entertainers. } Th His show, which almost broke the house record at Chicago’s Oriental eater last week, definitely proves that Hollywood personalities can compete with veteran vaudeville performers instead of just standing in an amber spot, mumbling sweet nothings to their “deah public.” Each one of the young ladies can, : do something—and does. houses of homesteaders, several hangings and a handsome cowboy righting injustice for the sake of a pretty girl. The story concerns the end of an era. ‘In tHe early Eighties, when homesteaders moved into the Texas cattle country, it was inevitable a war would blaze up between the two opposing groups. The homesteaders wanted to fence in the land to grow crops, the catilemen wanted their stock to run free. Into this battle Gary Cooper is brought when arrested at Vinegarroon, Tex. for horse stealing. He faces the only law west of the Pecos —the self-styled “Judge” Roy Bean. Judge Bean, however has an Achilles heel; he worships Lily Langtry, the beauteous ‘Jersey Lily.” Although sentenced to be hanged, the Judge postpones the sentence until Cooper can get a lock of Miss Langtry’s hair. In due course, Cooper meets Doris Davenport, one of the homesteaders. Because of Cooper's alleged acquaintance with Miss Langtry, the Judge drives the cattle from the homesteaders’ valley. In exchange, Cooper gives him the lock of Miss Langtry's hair. : That is all the Judge wants of

Cui three swashbucking heroes at the Circle this week, who fight their way through "Rangers of Fortune” with hardly a scratch, begin before a firing squad and end up by seeking’ new adventures. Handsome Fred MacMurray and his two companions, Albert Dekker and Gilbert Roland, (also handsome) @known for the scenarios sake as Gil Farra, George Bird and Sierra, are not (as is usually the case) finally broken up by marriage, Patricia Morison captivates the heart of all three but finally marries the home town boy. The boy s Dick Foran and the home town Santa Marta. Much applause is due to Albert Dekker, who has up to now been the A-1 heel of the screen.
