At the moment they were in second place and there were stories of managerial difficulties and team dissention, All of these of course were denied. To be sure there had been certain difficulties, Evervbody knew about that, Some of the players didn't like Oscar Vitt., It seems that he made them too nervous in the dugout by his sharp remarks. There was & good chance to win the pennant but Vitt's acid tongue was an awful obstacle, To veteran baseball men this was | silly.
