ADMITS MURDER

Solves Disappearance of New York Theater Manager, Nazi Foe.

SOUTR BEND, Ind. Aug. 26 (U. P.)—A young hitchhiker, who confessed to police that he had killed Walter Ebeling, 31, New York theater manager, said today he would lead officers to the scene of the crime, Capt. Lucius La Fortune said Richard Klowetter, 24, Niles, Mich., had confessed the slaving after he and Mervin Kagle, 21, Palmyra, Ill. were arrested in a bullet-marked rutomobile. He said Klowetter told him that he and Kagle shot Mr. Ebeling to death and robbed him of $80 Indiana and Michizan dolice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation had searched Mr. Ebeling since he left South Bend July 29 en route to Eagle Lake, Mich, to vacation with his eousins, Mr, and Mrs. R. L. Knight of Little Neck, N. Y His blood -soaked coat was found besidg the road near Lafavette, Ind. July 10 and his automobile was found ransacked and wrecked at Benton Ill, Aug. 11 Mr. Ebeling operated Theater in New York, where German films were shown, His friends had feared that he had been the victim of advocates of the Nazi Government, to which he was known to be opposed.
