‘RCA TO BUILD 4 ADDITIONS HERE
First New Factory Will Be Started Next Week; Others Follow.
The East Side throbbed today with hew activity as RCA Manufacturing Co. officials announced construc- | tion work on a vast plant expan- | sion would start next week. Through Mayor Reginald SulliVan, company officials yesterday said the program would call for a million-dollar increase in payrolls and the addition of 1000 employees in the next six months. The expansion will provide for anticipated national defense production. The building, to contain 100,000 square feet of floor space, will be one of four structures to be erected on 15 acres of land purchased by| the company adjacent to the fac-| tory at Michigan and LaSalle Sts.| Three More Next Year three other buildings, also containing 100,000 square feet of space each, will be erected after completion of the first unit about next Jan. 1 The plant, which manufactures various radio equipment, wiil begin | the production of radio equipment | for battleships and other military | communications products.
