FORD FINANCING GAINS Small House Gets Look of Spaciousness
Folding doors and a bay window add to the spaciousness.
ARAN
Bay Window With Obscure Glass Used to Make Conservatory.
Leslie F. Ayres, local architect, has so desinged this home that the entrance hall and living and dining areas create an effect of spaciousness unusual in such a small |
house, The folding doors flanking the fireplace (in the living room between the dining room and the hall) would create .an interesting background for a group of furniture, Since the bay window in the liv(ing room would come very close to (a property line and consequently there would prcbably be no desir‘able view, Mr. Avres suggests that obscure Louyrex glass be used. The bay could be made into a moderate conservatory. At each side of the bay is room for book shelves. While the planning of the stairway takes full advantage of decor{ative possibilities, the second floor lis entirely shut off from any view from the first floor. The small room between the entrance hallway and the garage would be highly functional for any { family, It could serve as a library, den, sewing room, children’s play |
or office. The first story can be faced with stone, cinder concrete block, | Rostone, stucco or wood. Mr, | Ayres suggests wood for the second story but says several other materials could be used.
