BEDFORD, Ind, July 24 (U.P). ~Henry Timbrook Jr. of Columbus, the medalist and favorite, led the way today inte the second round of the State Junior Golf tourmament with a 4.and-3 vietory over Dan Guinnup of Sevmour, Joe Fouts of Muncie, whe tied Timhrook for the medal and then Tost playoff, Arnold

in a special eliminated by Don South Bend, 3 and 2 Robert Watsman of Batesville eliminated another favorite, Robert Cook of Bloomington, 3 and 1. The third upset occurred when Robert Phillips of Indianapolis defeated Fred Wampler Jr. of Bedford, the last hometown boy in the tournament, 4 and 2 Ray White, Indianapolis, defeated Richard Mercer, Indianapolis, 1 up.

BEDFORD, Ind = Thirty-two Hoosier ju led by Medal Henry Jr. of Columbus, started out road to the 1940 Indiana junior golf championship today over the Otis Country Club cou after a twogay qualifying contest Young Timbrook, who blasted out a 149 for the 36-hole qualifying test won medal honors in an 18-hole playoff late yesterday with Joe Fouts of Muncie, Fouts came out of nowhere in the late hours of the day, blasting a par-7l to tie the Columbus youth for the top score, Timbrook, an early favorite to win the crown, led the field all the way through. He was one stroke ahead at the end of the first 18 with a TW and came in early vesterday with a %5 to take an edge that apparently was bevond approach. Fouls, however, performed what appeared impossible to match him Willard Shelby of Lebanon was elected president of the association for the coming vear st the annual banquet last night. Dick Stackhouse of Indianapolis was named vice president. No secretary-treasurer was yamed, thus postponing
