New Ordinance on Fire | !
Three new ordinances are on the fire at City Hall, all having to do with the public safety. t One would make it unlawful to erect or maintain any lighted sign near a traffic signal which, in the judgment of officials, resembles the signal. A second ordinance would prohibit taxicab stands on public property outside the central traffic district or the Mile Square. The effect of this ordinance would be to abolish cab stands in residential districts, since taxistands are located on streets which are public property. | The third ordinance tightens police control over second-hand dealers. It would prescribe hours of | business for the second-hand deal- | ers which would be from 7 a. m.! to 6 p. m.,, except Saturday when the stores could stay open until 9
