NEW YORK. July 13 (U The construction industry continned its strong upward trend during June. “seemingly unaffected by developments in Europe.” the PF Dodge Corp. reported today. The corporation disclosed that contracts totaling $324.726,000 were awarded for new construction last month in the 37 states east of the Rocky Mountains, representing an increase of 13 per cent over the corresnonding 1939 figure. Significantly, private contracts rose tn $177.410000 in June from £160.721,000. while residential awards for the month increased to $135.274.000 from $111.896.000 a year ago. “The leading individual class in the residential field,” the construction authority said, “continued to | be the one-family dwelling built by small home owners with the inten- | tion of living in their houses.
