“Those who consider that gold will no longer be used for foreign commerce have formed their opinions too hastily,” he said.

Dr. Degner predicted that a German. victory would be followed by establishment 'of a U. S. of Europe, based on the production by each region of its agricultural and industrial specialties with economic competition between various sections of Europe discouraged. He admitted that widespread discussions have taken place in Germany regarding trade between. the U. 8. of America and post-war Europe but said it would be “dishonest” not to admit. “that there is ‘considerable resentment in the Reich toward what some Germans consider the un-neutral attitude of the U. 8. toward the European con-

The forthcoming ‘election here will have “considerable bearing” on the final decision, Dr. Degner said, inasmucH as most Germans consider

President Roosevelt completely out|

of sympathy with the Reich and possessed of “a desire to help her opponents.” = However, he said, the Board of Trade for German-American comSnhercé is convinced that close trade relations with the U. S. will be established in order that the Reich can obtain large quantities of necessary raw materials.
