Blackstone Wins $2400

More than 1500 adherents of the sport braved yesterday's threatening weather for the stellar card. Blackstone, a big brown stallion from Tarboro, N. C., romped home ahead in the Trotting Club’s stake for $2400 in yesterday’s feature. Dr. H. M. Parshall was at the reins and the victory was sweet for him. He beat Little Pat, driven by Charles Lacey, for the first time in nine starts against Charley.

Blackstone took the first heat in 2:03%, was a bad seventh in the second heat which went to The Widower, driven by William Fleming, but came back to take the third heat in the excellent time of 1:591%. Chief Counsel, Blackstone's full brother, driven by Recor, was a contender in all three heats.

Spud Hanover Wins First

Spud Hanover with Harry Pownall driving, copped the first event, the third division .trot with $2000 in straight heats. Basil Hanover, with Harry Short at the reins was second. the meeting more, the horses may not return next year.
