YESTERDAY: Francie drives for Gusty and they have a delightful day. At dusk they reach the mountains, park on a curve. Gusty is just about to kiss Francie when a state trooper interrupts, lectures Gusty for parking on a curve. Gusty talks back ‘and the trooper threatens a fine and a night in Jail.

BREATHLESSLY Francie dashed into the hotel. Her father and Aunt Hat were sgated in a lobby brilliant with Indian rugs and pottery.
