ROAD PROGRAM AT $4,000,000

All Main Highways to Have Detours When New Work Starts.

Highway and bridge contracts awarded during May and those to be let this month will represent ex-

penditures of more than $4,000,000, the State Highway Commission reported today. Contracts were let last month for the paving of 242 miles in 51 counties and construction of 14 new bridges at a cost of $2,335,000. This week bids were received for nearly $2,000,000 worth of bridges and new roads. When construction work on the new contracts gets under way, there will be detours on nearly every main road in the state. The construction program for the entire year will represent expenditures of about $15,000,600. The Highway Commission issued
