3 START CAA FLIGHT COURSE

Sessions to Be Held Daily i in Butler Program; Ends | Sept. 15.

Forty-one students, 38 of them from Indianapolis, this week began the summer course of flight instrucdion under the Civil Aeronautics Authority: civilian pilot ‘training prograzh at Butler University. Indianapolis students registered for the three months schools are Albert Waldron, Paul D. Coffin, David Curran, Bryce W. Tharp, Paul Eastman, Steve Dickerson, Earl Miller, Ed Manning, Ettajane Jordan, William King, Robert Zankl, Melville Watson. Sle Smith, Harry Brown, Wilson Prentice, Nunzio Bruno, Galen Farmer, Winona Watson, Stewart Krauss, William McClure, Jack Redmond, Virginia Menikhim, James A. Applegate, Joe Crawford, Bud Shedron, P. M. Hutchinson, Kenneth Midkiff, George Cohee, Mike Bagnoli, Everett Gibbs, John Marshall, Colin Dunbar, Peter Macko, Dorothy | - Henderson, Theodore Locke, Charles |* Robert Britz, W. Service Award

An award and bonus for 40 years of service with the Indianapolis Water Co. were given last night to William F. Rankin, 65, of 1713 N. Tibbs Ave. H. S. Morse, company vice president and manager, made the award at an informal dinner of executives and Mr. Rankin’s fellow = workers at the cottage of the Laz-E- William Rankin Da Club, an employee social group’; headed by T. C. Mauch, pumping : superintendent. Mr. Morse pointed out that Mr. Rankin. was only one of three generations of a family “that had given| worthy service to the company and the public.” "His father, Michael, worked Charles Rankin With the company 43 years— from 1875 until 1918—as a fireman at the Washington Station. He started work as a helper at Washington Station on June’ 15, 1900. Now he is watch engineer at Riverside Pumping Station. His son, Charles, is watch engineer at Fall €reek Station. His service began June 16, 1921. : That makes a total of 102 years for the Rankin family.
