A masked gunman was routed from a drug store at 34th St. and Central Ave. last night by a girl who screamed as he was taking the contents of the cash drawer while holding the soda clerk at bay with a gun, : Harold Schenk, 16, of 548 Central Court, the clerk, told police the bandit came into the John E. Steeg Drug Store, 3365 Central Ave. with a white handkerchief tied over his face. He forced the youth to empty
the cash register.
As he was picking up the money, a girl in the store whose identity

door, screaming and calling for the police. The bandit became frightened and failed to take all the
money. The amount obtained was unknown.

AIRPLANE CRASHES
AREDALE, Iowa, June 13 (U. P.). —Butler County authorities investigated today the tangled wreckage of an airplane in which five persons, three of them members of one family, rode to their deaths. The craft went into a tailspin 250 feet above the ground. Clarence Barnett, whose wife and wo sons were among those Killed, was the only witness to the crash. Mr. Barnett had planned to go aloft with his family, but instead gave ‘his seat to Carl Pfaltzgraff, 25, Dumont, Iowa, automobile salesman. The others in the plane were Chester and Clark Bennett, their mother and Maybelle Vane, Dumont, an employee on the Barnett farm.
2 CITY YOUTHS PASS FLYING CADET TESTS
Two Indianapolis youths have been selected for enlistment as flying cadets in the U.S. Army Air Corps. They are Robert D, Fattig, 117 N. Drexel Ave. and George K. Williams, 317 E. 47th St. Both will report to Ft. Harrison June 21 for enlistment and then go to the Chicago School of Aeronautics for a three-months primary flight and ground school training course.
