GUARD PROGRAM SUPPORT ASKED
Lot Ermdiovesd Participate
In August Maneuvers, Council Requests.
The co-operation of Indiana em-
ployers in permitting their employ- |
ges to participate in the National]
Guard training program was urged) Lo ne beloved father of John C.
today by the Governor's Emergency Defense Council. “It is vitally important to our na-
tional defense that employers per-|
mit their Guard employees to take part in these maneuvers without discriminating against them,” the Council said. The National Guard members will receive three weeks | field training
in August. “It would be a decidedly un-
patriotic act for an employer to’
discriminate against' a member of the National Guard who has himself made personal: sacrifices for national defense. “Fortunately the large majority of Indiana employers have realized the importance of Guard training and have been entirely co- operative, ” the Council pointed out. The Council that without the National Guard
the United States would be com-
pelled to support al standing army of many times its present strength.
