Warren Central High School's graduation was held in its own auditorium, with County Superintendent J. Malcolm Dunn presenting the diplomas to 97 seniors. St. John’s Academy graduated 38 girls in a colorful ceremony climaxed by benediction with the Blessed Sacrament. It was the only one of last night's four services to have a commencement speaker. He was the Rev. Fr. Patrick Griffin of Assumpton Parish. The Academy diplomas were presented by the) Most . Joseph Elmer Ritter. bishep of the Catholic diocese of Indianapolis. At the Manual commencement, William Kniptash, Walter Rafert, Edward Schumann and Miss Martha White were awarded the
ships. Mr. Rafert: will go to Purdue University, Mr. Shurhann to Indiana University, the other two to Butler University. Five Manual students won the ndianapolis Foundation scholarships. Donnie Douglas, Mary Jane Roeder, Edward O'Nan and Dorothy Speicher will use them to go to Butler and Robert Davis will go to Rose Polytechnic Institute. Miss White and Marie Sassower were honored with medals as the topranking scholars. Donnie Douglas and Walter Rafert won the James Whitcomb Riley medals.
Wins Nursing Award
The Altrusa Club scholarship to the City Hospital School of Nursing went to Rita Fahy. Robert Linson won a state scholarship to Ball State Teachers College. Seven graduates—Lindabelle Brockett, Janet Conard, Jack Hoyt, Alice Nordholt, ‘Pete Pappas, Albert Peters and Miss White were given scholarships by Butler University. ? x Medals for Scholastic Work Presented at Honor Day Exercises.
Eighteen outstanding seniors received the highest scholastic awards of Tech High School during Honor Day exercises in the school gym» nasium Monday. The Faculty Scholarship Medals, awarded to the two boys and to the two girls who have the highest scholastic records. of all the graduates, were presented to Wilma Grabhorn, Charleen Sheppard, Joe Kettery and Thomas Luck.

Thomas received the Riley Scholarship Medals which are awarded to the | two. seniors selected. from the commencement hanor roll who have done the most distinctive work in the English Department. Annually the Mathematics Medals are awarded to the two graduates who have attained the highest degree 0 and 0, in the judgment of the halhemgiies faculty, have best demonstrate ) character. Win Yenne Medals
denbaum and James B. Kirkhoff— received Barton Bradley Memorial Scholarships. These are given to the two boys and the two girls who, throughout their high school career, have best exemplified the qualities of character of Barton Bradley—a Tech boy who lost his life saving a
ax child from drowning in Fall Creek.
Helen R. McFarland and Robert Smolka received the Binninger Medals as the boy and girl in the graduating class who, in the judgment of the faculty and the seniors, had exerted the most wholesome influence within the student body. The Ralph: Yenne Medals, awarded to the two graduates who have demonstrated the greatest proficiency in eithep a vocational or a technical deyfrtment of the school, went to omas Dransfield Jr. and Thomas James Smith. The Milo H. Stuart Medals are awarded to the boy and the girl in the graduating class, who in the judgment of the faculty, have” developed their talents most perseveringly and have used them mdst effectively for the finer interests of the student body and for the good of the school. Eleanor E. Ray and Frank Blair Jr. received these medals.
CHURCH CELEBRATES REDUCTION OF DEBT
A dinner at the Capitol Avenue Methodist Church last night celebrated the reduction of the church’s debt from $42,500 to $15,000 during the pastorate®of the Rey, E. Arnold Clegg At Bash night's Victory dinner, the church board of trustees presented to the Railroadmen’s Federal Savings & Loan Association a $2500
as the latest payment on the indebtedness. A new mortgage was drawn for the remaining amount. District Superintendent W. C. Hartinger and the Rev. Mr. Clegg spoke.
