And since : his appreciation is all-embracing, rather tha Y overly discriminating, any perforfer with a comedy turn is likely to find himself bringing down the house when Skippy is present. Skippy figures he has spent $775 in seeing some 3752 shows in Indiangpolis theaters. since the showgoing virus got into his system during ithe Coolidge administration. And ne has reached the ripe conclusion that a good six-act bill of vaudaville is his favorite dish. “Give me a good vaudeville show first,” Mr.. Pierson states. “I| like the ig name bands, too, but mix it up SO we gan have a good variety.”
SO SCARCE o commodity is a good deed ‘in this naughty world righ, at present, that it seems only fitting to give some attention to Mr. W. H. Walker, the good mayor of Shamrock, Tex. He and the citizens of this oil and cattle town have decided that what we need right now is at least “one heaven on earth.” So, after due deliberation, they are on record as willing fo change their titular token of Gaelic fortune for a more celestial name. In short, they want to change Shamrock to Heaven. All they want in return is that Warner Bros. bring to their pre-

Bald Heads

Carroll Puts Wavy-Haired Heroes in Their Place.
HOLLYWOOI), May 30 (U. P.).— Earl Carroll, internationally famous authority on puichritude, has come to the defense of the bald-headed men with the statement that a man whose hair is ‘thinning has more appeal for women than the wavyhaired heroes. | d Mr, Carroll should know he is talking about. His own ne has r2ached the vanishint. Yet, many of the most eautiful women in the world have been seen on (Carroll's arm during his 30 years a¢ a public figure. It was Mr. Carroll's own hairline that brought up the subject. Hollywood felt tha! his receding hairline was an iasult to movie pro-| ducers, becaus: Mr. Carroll is appearing as a producer in Paramount’s “A Night at Earl Carroll’s” ‘There is no record of a bald-headed actor portraying .a movie producer. Pagamount wanted Mr. Carroll to wear a toupee. He refused. There was an argument. The result—Mr. Carroll is not wearing a toupee. “They're all wrong about this question of men with thinning hair not having appeal for women,” Mr. Carroll insists. “A man with thin wisps of hair on his pate has more appeal for women than one with a thick thatch. The lack of hair gives him an air of distinction, or worldliness, of a man who has accomplished things. “And any woman will tell you that she prefers the embrace of the boulevardier to the clumsy clutch of the inexperienced amateur. “The misteken belief that a romantic figure must have lots of hair arose from passages in novels which reported that the heroine longed to run her fingers through the wavy locks of the handsome

Boom, Boor]
(By Eocal 77)
PHILADELPHIA, May 30 (U. P.). —The audience at Robin Hood Dell next month was assured today of
all the booms written by Tsehaikowsky. Conductor Eugene Ormandy of the Philadelphia Orchestra had announced that a cannon would be used in performance of the piece which describes musically Napoe leon’s retreat from Moscow. Local 77 of the American Federation of Musicians demanded, however, that a union member be chosen to fire the cannon, on grounds it was a percussion instrument because the booms were in the score. “Auditions” were held at the armory of the 111th Infantry, Pennsylvania National Guard, with
Charles Lemasch, 64 - year - old French horn player and SpanishAmerican as the bombardier.
