U.S. Willing, He Has a Job
UNABLE TO FIND a regular Job, R. G. Kennedy, 315 Beville
invented one which should keep him busy a long time, if Congress will co-operate. Mr. Kennedy, a World War veteran, is physically unable to do heavy labor. One day he walked through a cemetery and saw a Civil War veteran’s gravestone, neglected and so dirty the inscription ~was almost indecipherable. A former drug clerk, he set to work to find acids which would clean up the stones, and soon hit on the right formula. Today, he announced he is writ- . ing to Congressman Louis Ludlow ‘to ask his co-operation in getting Congress to appropriate funds for War veterans’ gravestones in all cemeteries of the State. Mr. Kennedy would like to have the contract for the entire State.
‘600D TURN DAY’ SET FOR MAY 13
5000 Are Expected to Aid Good Will Industries In City Drive.
The annual Indianapolis Goodwill Industries “Good Turn Day’ on which the agency will conduct
its city-wide drive for all kinds of discarded articles, has been set for May 15 Five thousand Boy Scouts, Camp Fire Girls and Girl Scouts will begin distribution of “Good Turn bags to residences throughout the city tomorrow. On “Good Turn Day” itself, a fleet of 125 trucks will collect the articles from housewives. The Rev. Howard G. Lytle, Goodwill Industries executive secretary, said today that 20,000 “Good Turn” bags were filled last year and that the goal has been set for 30,000 this spring. As the Scouts and Camp Fire Girls leave the bags at the homes, they give the housewives a folder explaining the purpose and work of Goodwill Industries. . Many housewives find the bags very helpful for articles they wish to discard
Lytle said. He said that persons wishing to give discarded clothing, household goods or furniture to the. industries before May 15 should telephone DR exel 2725. Fifty men and women, all elderly or socially or physically handicapped, are employed at Goodwill Industries. When discarded goods are given to the agency, these men and women repair the shoes, clean and mend the garments, repair and paint the furniture. When the articles’ are sold, the proceeds go to pay the wages of the handicapped persons. Last year a total of $22,000 was earned in wages by the 50 regularly employed and by several hundred others given part-time work.

Model Airplanes—
FANS HERE ASK CHARTER FROM . NATIONAL A, A,
Several to Attend Meet at Dayton Sunday; Local Affair Set May 26.
By HARRY MORRISON ; Indianapolis went on the official = °
model airplane map today as the
Indiana Gas Model Association announced it had the 20 members necessary to apply for a charter
from the National Aeronautical As- - sociation. The local association voted - Wednesday to apply for a charter.
‘About 50 persons attended the
meeting at Cropsey Auditorium and all said they intended to join.
The association’s membership will = be in the model division, called the ' “Academy of Model Aeronautics.”
The N. A. A. is divided into two sections: The Academy and the division that rules the affairs of regula-tion-sized airplanes.

members believe the membership will help arouse interest in, model work here and open new fields for association members. .. Each member of the local associa~tion will pay one dollar for membership. y The association, meanwhile, an- - nounced its first meet of the season. - It will be held May 26 in all three classes. A site has not been chosen. -A big meet will be held at Municipal Airport later in the summer.

About 25 association members were at Stout Field last Sunday getting their ships ready for a meet to be held next Sunday at Dayton, O., under the auspices of the Ohio Gas Modelers and the Dayton News. Indianapolis enthusiasts who expect to attend are Frank Vollrath, William Keogh, Victor Rrown, Thomas Stevens and Jack and Robert Castetter. They will compete in Classes B and C. Willi Kandler’s gull-type ship showed up well again in practice Sunday. The gull-type is a ship whose wings go up and out as the wings of a bird in flight. flies and lands beautifuily.
Has 9-Foot Wing Spread
“Tt has about a nine-foot wing spread. Mr. Kandler had one un- . usual experience with it. He held onto the wing tip too long in one of the take-offs and, in the words of one of the watchers, he “did a fan-dance with it.”

racing these tiny cars. Top weight
is about six pounds. : In a test run last Saturday at the .. Indiana ballroom, Harcld Stoker's .
racer hit 60 mile an hour. The .. _ models, attached to a heavy rope, . i
cover a twenty-fifth of a mile lap. His racer did the lap in 2.4 seconds.
