CENTRAL WALL PERS AND PAINTS
ON THE OUTSIDE. LUMITG ALL
To complement this unusual exterior, Leslie Ayres, architect, chose exterior LUMINALL, the sensational synthetic resin-binder paint for brick, block, or stucco, that bonds with the masonry to withstand severe weathering and hard usage. And, inside the Home Show, you'll find Luminall on all the foyer decorations.
INSIDE—CENTRAL WALL PAPERS
Distinguished modern wall papers in keeping® with the clean functional lines of the “Honeymoon House’ were -selected from our exclusive Richard E. Thibaut collection by the decorators for the interior. Whether your taste dies in the modern or period design, Central's great selection from 14 leading factories will include wall Prpers to your éspecial liking.
AND—ENTERPRISE ENAMELS
‘Enterprise Wonder, White enamels and dR eaihrs were chosen for woodwork throughout the house because of their unusual whiteness and the clear tints which are so easily reached with Enterprise oil colors. * + + S. E. ARVIN, “Honeymoon House” builder says, ‘/Central wall papers and Enterprise paints have added a lot to our house. CALCIUM CHLORIDE IN DRIVEWAY IS URGED
Home-owners are taking a cue from road maintenance engineers by-using calcium chloride to lay dust
areas about their grounds.
The chemical’s use also is a health measure, valuable especially to chil-
‘dren and to persons with sinus or]
nasal conditions. Calcium chloride comes ‘in 100pound moisture-proof bags. Under normal conditions one application lasts all season, It is applied by raking it lightly over a dirt or gravel surface in proportion of about a pound and a quarter per square yard of surface. If weather conditions are particularly bad, a second treatment is recommended a month to six weeks later. o>

1ST EXPOSITION 13 YEARS AGO
Real Estate Board Sponsored It; House Was Given as Prize.
Ninieteen years ago Indiana citizens saw for the first time, under
one roof, the things that go into the building, equipping and decorating of a home, A group of civic minded men and women had organized the Indianapolis Home Complete Exposition. Its i sponsors were the Indianapolis Real Estate Board with the late E. IL. Cothrell, its president, as an enthusiastic proponent. The first exposition committee of galtors and builders was headed by , Frank Cantwell, as chairman, assisted by H. L. Mott, C. L. Price, H. E. Fieber, A. S. MacLeod, Kirk Mcney, J./W. Robbins and Cornel! ius loway.
| Centerpiece Was Small
The centerpiece of the exposition was a small, inexpensive frame dwelling, but the building of a complete house indoors to show for such a short time was regarded as exceptional for a city the size of Indianapolis. . The frame bungalow centerpiece was offered as a prize to the author of . the best essay on “Why One Should Own His Own Home in Indianapolis.” Mrs. Paul C. Denny, a Shortridge High School teacher, won the contest. The home later was built near Irvington. The local Real Estate Board continued to sponsor the show until 1933 when the Indianapolis Home Show Ingc., current sponsor, was Ors ganized. Walter Evans was its first president. “In 1935 and 1936, Ted-C. Brown, Indianapolis Electric League executive secretary, served as €xposition president.
French Home Built
The 1936 Home Show centerpiece was a French Provincial house later rebuilt at 5707 Washington Blvd. by the Indiananolis Home Builders’ Association. Walter L. Stace, a; member of the Association, was the builder of the “Home O’ Dreams,” which was the centerpiece of the
a permanent site in south Indianapolis following the show. ] In 1938, Colonial Williamsburg was the Show's theme. The centerpiece,
