THE INDIANAPOLIS TIMES ‘Life’ Furniture Is Used in ‘Honeymoon, House’

with places to put everything—is one of three structures which make up the centerpiece of Indianapolis’ 1940 Home Show. The lodge was designed by Leslie F. Ayres, built by the Indianapolis Home Show, Inc., and deco-\ rated by the Sam L. Griffith Co, under the personal supervision of Mary Agnes Darmody, interior designer. The lodge features practical design for modern holiday living | with balance of bright colors and’ eyecatching materials. The plan provides for one large living room, a sheltered terracé— both with fireplaces—a, kitchen and bath, two bunk rooms and a large storage room. Points Out Closets Miss Darmody, pointing out the various closets and nooks, said of the house: “It has places to put the books you read, the dishes you ase, the clothes you wear, the supplies you need and all of your playtime equipment.” Furniture in the “Holiday Lodge” is designed to take the knocks and usage which goes with a house built in which to have fun. All fabrics used in the interior decoration is of homespuns and other practical materials which will take wear. Woodwork Is Hickory The living room is in the American provincial style blended with the modern trend. Woodwork is of light hickory. The bunks are uséd to conserve space and make accommodations available for guests. A trestle table and benches carry out the theme of the building in the dining room. Russell Wright, well known modern furniture designer, created the furniture which adorns the sheltered terrace. Furniture in the living room, which was donated by the Old Hickory Furnituré Co., after the Home Show will be placed on display at the Metropolitan Museum in New York City.
