State Palice Officers Hide in Woman’s Home, Make Arrests.

The Indiana Securities Commission today investigated an alleged “oil securities” racket after two men were arrested by State Police at the home of an elderly widow m Cambridge City, Ind. Acting upon information given the State Commission by a Richmond bank, State Police officers hid themselves in the woman’s home and arrested the men after they allegedly had traded the securities for deeds to two cemetery lots and $112 in cash. Commission investigators said the men gave the woman oil securities which they claimed would net her $20 a month income for 10 years. E. E. Five men were arrested and three youths were ordered nto court by police after a raid on a pool room in E: Washington St. 400 block, yesterday. John Smyrnis, 60, of 3019 Graceland Ave., was charged with keeping a gaming house, operating a lottery and gift enterprise and allowing minors in a pool room. Police said they saw four men playing poker with dominoes and the three youths playing pool. A number of baseball tickets were confiscated.
