ing remonstrances from Meridian St. property| owners against the proposed $175,000 structure. Proponents of the petition have asserted it would | blend with the architectural styles of residences , on the thoroughfare and would cater to a restricted clientele. Opponents maintained it would open the door for other business properties on Meridian St. north of 30th St. . The Board will also consider’ the request of LeRoy Carson for a permit to built eight Jdouble bungalows at’ Burdsall Parkway and Edgemont St. George Rooker, Board secretary, said the petition had been resubmitted after Mr. Carson withdrew it at ithe last meeting when nearby property owners objected. Other petitions ‘to come before the Board have been filed by A. R. McComb to build a restaurant - costing $12,000 at 3820 Fall Creek Blvd.; J. W. teleased and the slaying was all but forgotten until District 'Attorney William O’Dwyer of Brooklyn began to uncover the sanguinary story of Murder, Inc. The young lady was questioned again and this time, no longer mute from | fear, she identified Max (The Jerk) @Golob| and Frank (The Dasher) Abbadando as the slayers. i Now under heavy guard 24 hours Miss Nestfield is one of the women who have been drawn into the web of Murder, Inc. innocently or otherwise, The women who helped break Murder, Inc, number five. They are Miss Nestfield and the wives of Abe (Kid Twist) Reles, Anthony (The | Dike) Maffetore, Abraham (Pretty) Levine, and Lazarus Black. Levine and Maffétore, two Kids shabby clothing, confessed they slew for as little as $1 or $5 or $10.

they loved their wives and could not bear the thought of permanent parting—such as the electric chair. | ‘Every Man for Himself’ Mrs. Reles, an attractive woman of 25, had to call her husband “Kid Twist” at home because he fancied himself a latter day version of the gangster who originally bore the title. | And their baby son was “Little Kid Twist.” But she stuck to him through a career that included arrests for five homicides and when he was last arrested she told | him she believed his only chance was in confession. | Then she made a tearful visit to, Mr. O'Dwyer to ascertain whether | a confession would lighten Reles’ punishment. She reported back to her husband and he began to talk. This led Mrs. Lazarus Black to convinge her husband it was “every man for himself” thus clearing up! the mistaken identity killing of] Irving Penn, a music publishing | company executive who- had the misfortune to resemble a grand jury witness. More sinister was the role imputed by Mr. O'Dwyer .to Mrs. Lena Frosch, a middle-aged bail bondswoman who is known as “the; woman in black” from her habitual | attire. Despite her general appearance the prosecutor said that Mrs. Frosch was the chief fixer for Murder, Inc. that she arranged for intimidation and bribery of witnesses and financed journeys outside of the jurisdiction of the courts.

Charged With Perjury She already is under a perjury in-| in. another inquiry in| which her son Abraham has been! jailed. Her husband and son-in-law have been arrested with her in the! present case. Mr. O'Dwyer considers a Woman, one of his most important witnesses. ! She is Mrs, Gertrude Guarino, 26.! who was held in $100,000 bail in| Supreme Court. The prosecutor said | he believed she could give information regarding a number of murders. Another woman whose name has been mentioned is the inscrutable Mrs. Rose Gold who is known as “Midnight Rose” in the Brownsville section where:the gang had its headquarters. No direct connection has been shown, but it was disclosed that wire tappers who had listened

and Martin (Buggsy) Goldstein using it. And these two chief strongarm men of Murder, Inc., were talking to 'a man believed to ‘be the secretary of an important politician. | And there is still another woman
