Dr. Mottier was a life member of the Botanical ‘Society of America, a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and . a‘ member of the Washington Academy of Sciences. He was a member of the Botanists of Central States, American Society of the Indiana Academy of Science. He had | been president of the latter since 1907, and was a member ‘of Sigma Xi and Phi Beta Kappa Fraternities. He was author of “Practical Laboratory Guide for [First Year in
Botany,” published in 1902; “Fecundation in Plants,” published in 1904; “College Textbook in Botany,” pub-
papers. Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. ‘Pearson and Mrs. Leland Haworth of Urbana, Ill.; a son, Dr. David H.
