Agercy Has Built, Repaired 2376 “Public Buildings, | Jennings Says. The Indiana WPA since 1935 has

built 476 new public buildings, re-

constructed and repaired 1900 others and put up 65 additions, its state office reported today. The report was the second in a

series; of WPA achievement surveys. © State Administrator John K. Jennings said the larger part of

The WPA also built 57 garages, 17 storage buildings, two armories, 176 recreational buildings and 177 miscellaneous public buildings. It constructed 50 low-priced homes for the Ft. Wayne Housing Authority and erected park and cemetery caretakers’ buildings throughout the state. Also constructed were one library, two | hospitals, three fire stations and one jail. In| recreation, the WPA built 27 new | stadium grandstands and De hn cleared land for 62 parks totaling 1625 acres; completed six golf courses totaling 81 holes with 409 acres, and erected five bandshells and four outdoor theaters.

16 Swimming Pools Constructed

Sixteen new swimming pools, 96 playgrounds, seven fairgrounds, 82 athletic fields, 60 tennis courts and four ski jumps were built or reconstructed. It laid 170 miles of

water mains and 386 miles of storm and | sanitary sewers and built 25 utility plants and 24 water storage dams. The workers installed 42.5 miles of police, fire alarm and traffic signal systems, more than 22 miles of electric power lines and illuminated 2700 acres ofy playing fields ‘| for night sports and entertainment.

P.) ~—Beatrice Lewis, who chose the edge of one of the city’s most precipitous cliffs to practice an interpretive dance slipped and plunged 250 feet to her death at the Ocean Beach yesterday.
