Snug Hip Fit Doesn't Belong With Men's Clothes, Tailor Tells Women Who Eye Papa’s Suit Uneasily
By RUTH MILLETT : EASTER is not so far off that Papa hasn't beeing doing some indow-shopping for that new ring suit. And if Mama notices that gleam in his eye, she ought to think about. taking steps. Actually, in most cases, storekeepers tell us that when Papa buys a suit Mama either goes along or gives him explicit instructions on what type to buy. That would be fine and dandy if Mamma knew what she was talking about, according to Norman Block, prominent New York stylist. : Mr. Block is by way of being an authority on men’s clothes. His tailors run up the clothes of many

“TO BEGIN _ with,” he says, “women should s expecting men’s clothes to fit the way their own do. “In order for the collar to stay put when a man moves his arms, there must be some drape in the back of the coat. make her look larger. But that is Pp
no reason for Papa, who wants to look hefty, to -avoid them. ; ” ” ” : MAMMA shouldn’t let her feminine love for a nipped-in waist persuade her that Papa should have a nipped-in-silnouette. He shouldn’t. His coat should have a straight look. . Another thing Mama should not do is encourage Pop to match up his accessories, as she -does. It gives an impression of straining for a sarforial effect. Additional clothes-commandments for men are, according to Mr. Block: ’ “The width of

in a suit—unless he is comfortable wearing it, . ’
