The man fled without the purse. A youth succeeded in gzrabbing the purse of Mrs. Rebecca Johannes, 322 E. Minnesota St., as she walked near her home.

A 27-year-old Pandit 4s being held by police today under $5000 bond after an unsuccessful attempt to hold up the Fritz Drug Co. store, 1202 E. 10th St., last night. He was captured by the owner, Otto Fr
itz. Police said the man entered the store, announcing, “This is a stickup.” He kept his hand in his ket as if concealing ‘a gun, poice said. When Mr. Pritz handed the man some silver, the bandit was dissatisfied and said, “That isn’t all of it. Give me the rest of it.” The owner then handed the bandit a ‘number of bills. The bandit forced Mr. Fritz to go outside with him, and as they went out the door, the owner grabbed the bandit and held him until police arrived. No weapon was found. Police took $4.86 in silver from his pockets. Witnesses were Lucille Angrack, 1524 S. East St.; Leola Bush, 602 Weghorst St., and William Ramsey, 1307 Brookside Ave. A heavy set man . last night slugged and robbed Carl Gluff, 20, of 327 N. Davidson St., of $8 in silver as he emerged from the Stratford Theater, 1831 College Ave., but
had in an inside coat pocket. The bandit forced his victim Into a closet and escaped.
HARTER CONVICTED

CONDITION OF BURNED GIRL STILL CRITICAL
Ten-year-old Betty Ann Huxley who received second-degree burns early yesterday when her home was destroyed by an oil-stove blast, remained in extremely critical condition today at St. Francis Hospital. The condition of her father, Broudy Huxley, 29, of 3013 S. St. Paul St., and of his sister-in-law, Mrs. Mabel Wolf Forschauer, 23, of 5812 W. Washington St., was listed as fair. Betty Ann was given a blood transfusion yesterday.
MRS. SWAIM HURT IN AUTO ACCIDENT
Mrs. H. Nathan Swaim, 3166 N. Delaware St., wife of Judge Swaim of the Indiana Supreme Court, was injured last night when the Swaim car and another collided at 38th St. and Capitol Ave. She was treated by a private physician for bruises. WASHINGTON, March 13 (U, P). —The Public Buildings Administration yesterday gave John McShain, Inc, Philadelphia, final notification to proceed with constructing the first unit of the new War Department Building. The building will be constructed of limestone and grans ite. It will be entirely up to the contractor where he gets the limestone just as long as it meets specifications, the PBA said.
