LAWRENGE GIRL IN CRITICAL CONDITION

| The condition of Betty June 4 witte, 14-year-old Lawrence girl {who was shot accidentally Sunday night in a neighborhood quarrel, iremanied critical today at Riley Hospital. A .22 caliber buliet, fired from a rifle, entered her abdomen and lodged near the vertebrae, doctors said. They said it will not be necessary to remove the bullet immediately. They gave her a blood transfusion yesterday and said none was planned today unless the case takes an unexpected turn. : Meanwhile, Mrs. Lorraine Byrd, 27-year-old mother of four, was arraigned in Municipal Court on a charge of assault and battery with intent to kill growing out of the ishooting. The case was continued ‘until March 25 and bond was set ‘at $5000.
