. DOG STEALS MEAT BUT GETS NO MEAL
Times Special ELKHART, Ind. Feb. 29. — When a large kettle of dog meat was stolen from a home on the banks of the St. Joseph's River, a mile west of here, County Officer Gerald Witman trailed the thief’s tracks for a
half-mile in the snow—but he made no arrests. Near the home of Robert Thompson, he recovered the kettle of meat lying in the snow, its contents intact. Inside the home, Officer Witman discovered the culprit—a huge police dog. The dog had carried the kettle in his mouth by the handle but had been unable to open it.
