Betsy Home Set for Today,
Miss Betsy Home, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George E. Home, will become the bride of Alfred J. Stokely, Indianapolis, son of Mrs. James R. Stokely, Newport, Tenn., in a ceremony at 4:30 o'clock this afternoon in the Advent Episcopal Church. -
The Rev. George S. Southworth will officiate. The chancel will |
be decorated with plaques of woodwardia ferns, magnolia branches,
laurel and southern smilax interspersed with cathedral candelabra i
and standards of white stock, white carnations and tulips, Vases of white spring flowers will stand on the altar. : On each side of the chancel, marking the place for the bridal party, will be low circular screens of clipped smilax. Similar low screens will mark the aisleway for the bridal party at the rear of the. church. The stained-glass window arches will be outlined by arches of smilax. Around the walls of the church will be plaques of magnolia foliage woodwardia, southern smilax and laurel.
Bride to Wear Grandmother's Gown
Mrs. Russell Sanders, organist, will play a program of bridal music preceding and during the ceremony. The bride, who will enter with her father. will wear the wedding gown of her maternal grandmother. Mrs. Alfred M. Ogle.. The dress is fashioned: of . ivory brocaded satin made with a basque bodice, buttons down the front and three-quarter length sleeves covered with silk net. The skirt of the gown is made with a bustle back and she will wear a full length veil falling from a cap of rosepoint lace. Her bridal bouquet will be of blended white flowers with a center of lilies of the valley and white orchids encircled with hyacinth blooms, freesias, white pansies, white camellias and an ivory maline frill. She will use an ivory satin kneeling cushion used by Mrs. Elias Atkins, : : ‘Miss Marjorie Home will be her sister's maid of honor. Bridesmaids will be Miss Janie May Stokley, sister of the bridegroom, New=port, Tenn.; Mrs. Thurston Greene, New York; Miss Barbara Haines and Miss Mary Sheerin Kuhn, both of Indianapolis. Miss Home, the maid of honor, will wear pistachio green taffeta and the bridesmaids’ dresses will be of ivory green taffeta. All the gowns are styled alike with basque waists, full skirts and V necklines. The necklines are outlined with deep ivy velvet petals and extend in a double row down the front of the gowns and divide to encircle the basque waistline and-hipline of the skirts. All will wear silk jersey
caps and halo mesh veils with top knots of hyacinth fieurettes with
velvet cord ties. They will carry bouquets of white hyacinth fleurettes accented with shaded green foliage and tied with matching velvet ribbons. ‘ . ;
Reception Will Follow Ceremony
James R. Stokely, Newport, a brother of the bridegroom, will be best man. Ushers will be Ben D. Stokely, Newport, another brother of the bridegroom; George Everett Home Jr, Evanston, Ill, the bride’s brother: Thaddeus Brown Jr., Washington, and Donald McSween, Newport. : Following the ceremony, a reception will be held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas D. Sheerin. - A receiving line in the living room will be formed by vases of spring flowers. The wedding cake will be arranged on a plateau of lilies of the valley and smilax on an antique moire cloth with low formal bowl arrangements of lilies of the valley, carnation petals and farleynse. The couple will leave on a trip to Cuba and will be at home after April 1 at 3040 Cold Spring Road. The bride will travel in a costume suit of Sandringham blue tweed with brown hat and accessories and a corsage of orchids. : Among out-of-town guests at the wedding will be Mrs. Stokely,

Mr. Stokely was graduated from Baylor School, Chattanooga, Tenn. attended the University of Tennessee and was graduated from Princeton. He is a member of Phi Beta Kappa, scholastic honorary, and of Woodstock Ciub.

Alec Templeton will play a concert April 30 at the Murat Theater under auspices of the Auxiliary of the Indianapolis Orphans’ Home. Mrs. Charles S. Children’s Tryouts to Be Next Week
Tryouts for the next Children’s Civic Theater play will be held from 3:30 to 5 p. m. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday at the theater. The next play, “The Silver Thread,” (Constanee D'Arcy Mackay) will be presented March 30 and 31. Mrs. Joseph Walden will direct the production. Miss Betty Tharp, Children’s Theater chairman, will conduct the tryouts for young children and children between 12 and 18 years. Mrs. Walter Houppert will be in charge of tickets for the play to which the public has been invited. The Civic Theater Workshop will present three one-act plays at 8 o'clock tomorrow night in the theater. The first, “The Bad Penny” (Rachel Field) will be directed by Mrs. Samuel J. Mantel, assisted by Miss Alice Carter. Cast members are, Miss Mary B. Whiteman, Miss Jewell Brice, Mrs. Victor Griffin and Miss Carol Arnholter. Norman Green will direct the second, “The Brink .of Silence.” In the cast are A. K. Flowers in Decorations
Luncheon clecorations were to be in keeping with the spirit of the early days of the sorority’s founding.. Large old-fashioned goldfrilled nosegays of spring flowers connected by garlands of smilax and two silver candelabra were to decorate the speakers’ table. Over the center of the table was to hang the lighted Theta pin. The small tables were to be decorated with white-frilled old-fashiond bouquets. Mrs. Metzger, vocalist, was to sing and Mrs. Ruth Rainier, harpist, was to play selections. The four active chapters were to present stunts. Proceeds from the dance tonight will be used to further the organization’s work at the Coleman Hospital. ; Members of the luncheon and dance committees, together with the alumnae president, Mrs. C. A. Jackson, and other club officers, will be hostesses., Among those who will attend the dance are Messrs. and Mesdames William Maurer, Clarence Jackson, Sylvester Taylor and Thomas Reilly. Mr. and Mrs. Dale Hodges will go with Mr. and Mrs. T. Paul Jackson.

Mrs. Fred V. Miller, charler member of Delta Alpha Chapter of Delta Delta Delta Sorority, was to speak at the organization's State Day luncheon today at thie Columbia Club. Miss Alice Evans, Indianapolis Alliance president, was to give the welcoming address. Mrs. Owen Calvert, district -president, was to speak on the four BEE) Sisters of the sorority in the state_and to introduce the chapter presidents, Miss Barbara Conser, DePauw Univer’ sity; Miss Sara Dekle, Franklin College; Miss Virginia Austin, Indiana University, and Miss Lucile Craigle, Butler University.
