C. Morris South has been named new car sales n.anager for Carroll Cartwright, Inc., 861 N. Meridian St., Studebaker. distributors. His appointment was announced by John C. Dolan, president. Mr. South was engaged in the newspaper business in Louisville and Birmingham before coming to In#mnapolis four years ago. He has been active in the automobile business here since then.
REFUGEES’ GOLD SEIZED
- PHILADELPHIA, Feb. 16 (U. P.). ~The U. S. Government, has confiscated $3500 in gold brought to this country from Germany by refugees. The refugees will be given the equivalent in American money and there will be no prosecution under the gold act, according to Port Collector A. Raymond Raff.

The Indianapolis Goodwill Industries employed 102 more persons in 1939 than in 1938 and increased its income by more than $8000, according to a report issued today for the year ending Jan. 31, 1940. It paid out almost $5000 more in wages to persons otherwise unemployed and sold 50,000 more articles in 1939 than in the previous year. According to the report, the Industries stressed a community center program during 1939 which included a circulating library, clinics, home nursing classes, adult education, free piano lessons, a. kindergarten, children’s recreation and church ac-
tivities, The report also noted the establishment of a South Side Com-

The rally’s purpose, it was announced, is to “make a public presentation of exemplifying the principles and doctrines upon which the Government is founded, and to promote tolerance and justice among all faiths and creeds.”

P.). —Sentencing of George Delk, 36, of Hopkinsville, Ky., convicted on a charge of manslaughter in connection with the fatal shooting of John Pilkelton, 35, of Elberfeld, during a riot at a Millersburg bridge construction project last July, has been deferred by Judge Union W.
